While reading the story about a local resident who had purchased her first home from Habitat for Humanity, we knew we wanted to do something to recognize the accomplishment. The resident, Kim Calhoun, is a mom to three children and a health care technician at Carle Foundation Hospital, one of U of I Community Credit Union’s leading partnership employers.
“At UICCU, we are always looking for ways to do more good in our community,” Lisa Paul, Vice President of Member Experience at UICCU, said. “We were inspired by Kim’s incredible drive and wanted to be a part of her story.”
Kim and her children have a backyard at their new home, and the kids had always wanted a trampoline.
Enter UICCU’s team of ‘Do Gooders’ to make that dream come true. This group of employees purchased a trampoline and recruited a group of employee volunteers to install the new trampoline for Kim and her family. On the evening of August 10, 2022, the volunteers met at the family’s new home and had the trampoline set up in time for the kids to enjoy it before the sun went down.
